Fall Mantel with Copper Accents

If you saw my Early Fall Home Tour, then you know that I incorporated a lot of non-traditional Fall colors like navy, white, and green. I loved the fresh feeling it brought into our home! But when it came time to decorate our mantel for Halloween, I wanted the cozy feel of more traditional oranges and reds. Halloween is Henry’s birthday (he’ll be two this year!), and I’m excited to make the holiday feel fun for him every year. I have been telling him that he will be two on his birthday, and when he saw the new things on our fireplace, I told him that they were Halloween decorations for his birthday. Now, he has been pointing to the fireplace and saying “TWO!” That alone makes the effort of decorating so worth it!
Remember when I shared our Chalkboard Wall with Hanging Copper Planters? I guest-posted over on Sinkology’s blog for that one, and I’m doing the same thing today! We’re installing a copper tub from Sinkology into our upstairs bathroom (that’s still in progress – I’ll share more when there’s an update!), and so I have been having fun incorporating copper into other places in our home.
For our Halloween mantel, I used copper accents: a copper wreath hanger, a copper candle holder and vintage copper tea kettles (a la Erin over at Cotton Stem!). I love the warmth the copper adds, and it goes perfectly with all of the natural elements I used like the birch logs and branches from our yard.
I had a mirror in the center of our mantel earlier this Fall (you can see that here]), and I loved it…but wanted to mix it up. So I used these vintage, chippy windows and just hung a wreath over them!
I found some branches in our yard and put them in these lanterns from the Target dollar spot. Inexpensive and easy! The “Happy Halloween” banner is also from the Target dollar spot!
I made over some inexpensive candlestick holders using the same method I used for this wood-look lamp makeover and just placed a white pumpkin on top of each.
We had a leather chair in our hearth room in my Fall tour post, and this fabric chair was in our living room. We moved a rocking recliner into the living room for rocking baby Ruby, though, and the fabric chair was moved into the hearth room! I think that it makes the space feel a little cozier and kind of like the mismatched chair look (one leather, one fabric).
I layered a rug from Lorena Canals over the rug we already had and am OBSESSED with it! I’ll share a full post on these rugs soon…but just know that they are amazing. Plus this super soft rug just adds to the cozy feel of the room!
