Fall Copper Tablescape Inspiration
Sinkology is proud to present Kendra Williams, a home decor expert, DIYer, furniture refinisher, and busy mom as a guest blogger. Kendra runs the blog at Momtique and she is here to share some design ideas and inspiration around designing your home with copper and around your copper sink.
Hello! My name is Kendra and I blog over at www.momtique.com where I share my furniture projects and home decor ideas. I am a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom, DIYer, and home decor lover. I can’t tell you how excited I am to be writing here on the Sinkology Blog. There aren’t many things I love more than decorating with copper. Anytime I’m out antique hunting for treasures, I always have my eyes open for copper. There are touches of copper sparkled throughout my home which adds both refinement and a natural quality that I love.
The seasons are changing and it’s officially fall. Oh, happy day! I love everything about fall. The weather, the clothes, the pumpkin patches, the kids jumping in the leaves, but I especially love the decorating. Fall decorating can be difficult, but it doesn’t have to be, and there is no need to redecorate your entire home if you don’t want to. To make a big impact, simply pick a high-traffic area in your home that you can decorate and enjoy for the entire season. For my family, the best place to decorate is the dining room table since we use it for three meals a day. Whether it be your kitchen island, breakfast nook, or outdoor patio, where your family gathers to eat is the ideal place to focus your decorative efforts.
Fall is the perfect time to decorate with copper. Whether your decor style is modern, farmhouse, french country or shabby chic, your fall tablescape should reflect your style and blend nicely with your everyday decor. For a person like me that loves pastels, the copper hue favors light soft colors perfectly and adds the feeling of fall without having to use the traditional bright orange that is usually associated with the fall season. When deciding what I wanted my table to look like, I knew I had to use my beautiful antique dough bowl, which I lovingly refer to as my “fourth child.” I wanted the bowl to be filled with an array of items that would awaken the feeling of fall. The copper corn, white velvet pumpkin, weathered wood beads, and blue glass complement each other seamlessly. Notice another theme: texture. Texture is key to a pleasing tablescape. Whenever I style my dough bowl, I try to mix fabric, metal, wood, glass, and greenery.
Place Card DIY
No fall tablescape would be complete without place cards, and I wanted to create my own. I found small faux pumpkins at my local craft store and painted them using Rustoleum Aged Copper spray paint. This is probably the easiest little DIY you’ll ever do. Just spray paint, let dry and write the name with a permanent marker. This is a quick and easy way to personalize your tablescape and adds the perfect fall touch. But my DIY fun didn’t stop there, I also gave the corn a little makeover with the same spray paint.
Have you started decorating for fall? I encourage you, if you don’t know where to begin, try starting with your dining room table. Find a basket, bowl or tray and fill it with some of your favorite decor items. Add some greenery, pumpkins and a few copper touches and you’re done!

I have a little saying at the end of each post over on my blog, “And remember, you did it yourself and it will probably show. Embrace the DIY life.” This reminds me not to take myself too seriously and that it is better to try and do the best I can, than to not try at all.
