Design to Inspire: Bathroom Edition
Sinkology is proud to present Kristan Allen, our design expert and guest blogger who runs the @FarmhouseRedefined Instagram. Kristan is here to share some design ideas and inspiration around designing your home around your copper sink.
I spend waaaay too much time on Pinterest. I get sucked into all the inspiration and beautiful photos and, before I know it, an hour has passed and my head is swirling with new ideas. And even though I’m not in the market for a bathroom design or remodel, I find myself pinning amazing bathrooms more than anything else! Why? Because I love to see how people take what’s typically considered a not-so-exciting room and make it unique, inviting and a true reflection of their own style.
I’m back with the Design to Inspire series, where I break down fun elements to brighten your home. This month is all about exciting ways to use metallics in the bathroom. Whether you’re designing a brand-new bathroom or planning a refresh of your existing bathroom, think outside the chrome-fixture box with these new spins on metallic accessories.
Get Your Shine On With a Not-So-Standard Sink
If you’re looking to make a statement in your powder room, why not try a nickel sink? Hammered nickel creates a beautifully shiny finish that instantly draws the eye and is just as easy to maintain as a traditional porcelain sink. Match up hardware and accessories or go bold with mix-and-match finishes that will draw attention to the multi-dimensional silver sink.
Combine Form and Function with a Vessel Sink
Speaking of not-so-standard sinks, vessel sinks are a great way to marry style with the functionality you need in a bathroom. Vessel sinks sit on top of a vanity, making the entire bowl visible…which means you can get a whole lot more creative! Sinkology’s Nobel Copper Vessel Sink has a shiny inner bowl and a beautiful, aged-green patina on the outside. The carrying handles add a touch of whimsy to a sink that is surprisingly versatile, whether your style is rustic, industrial or something entirely different!
Metallics Aren’t Just for Sinks and Hardware
When you think metallics in the bathroom, chances are you’re envisioning hardware, faucets or maybe a sink since you’ve read this far into my post! But there are a lot of great bathroom accessories out there that can help you add a touch of metallic in unexpected places. I dressed up my powder room with this Alondra Rug from Anthropologie. The tiny sequins on the ends of the rug add an understated shimmer and up the glam factor in this room! You can also go big with a copper bath tub. This Archimedes Copper Bathtub is a great standalone piece that can anchor a bathroom and add depth with its natural finish.
Think Oversized for Big Impact…Even in Small Spaces
In a small bathroom, try hanging an extra tall mirror over your sink. It’ll make the ceilings seem higher and the room feel a little bigger…this works especially well if you have a pendant light hanging over your sink or two flanking either side of it.
