The Shockley: Designing with the Sink in Mind

Mar 2016

Our Shockley Vessel Bath Sink is one of two mosaic tile sinks that are new to the Sinkology family. This particular sink has a brass lipped bowl, a perfect addition to our line of copper sinks. The Shockley makes a statement in any space it’s placed. This luxurious sink is handmade from 18-gauge solid brass and features hand-applied mosaic glass. The Champagne finish is a raw matte brass that is hand-hammered. This vessel is easy to install during a quick DIY project and will immediately change your space. Not to mention it retails at the low, low price of $99.

To let this particular sink be the star of your next remodel, choose the design of your room wisely. This sink needs colors and the space to let it’s uniqueness shine, so subduing and simplifying the other elements in your space is key. For this space we were inspired by the trending style of black and brass. They compliment each other perfectly, while letting brass really stand out. Black flooring or even black cabinets would look chic and modern in this space.

For this design kit, we used a dark wood cabinets to add a little warmth. We chose these brass cabinet pulls from Wayfair to give the cabinets that modern touch and make the metal in the space pop. Using the rustic bronze Pfister faucet will blend with the cabinetry and compliment the sink, without taking away from your sink. Top off your cabinets with a pure white solid surface or quartz counter to help the mosaic tiles really shine. The light bouncing off the white will give this sink the pedestal it deserves. You can find perfect accessories for your countertop in most stores these days, like these delicate bowls from Target. They match the counter’s white surface while bringing in the brass of the sink around the rim.

This is a space where you can be bold with your choice of a rug as well. Kilim rugs are making an appearance in bathrooms and kitchen in a big way in 2016, and this would be a space to try one out. We chose a gray and white rug to combine the colors of the counters and cabinets to complete the space from head to toe.
