Laundry Room with Bradstreet II Fireclay Sink Before & After

We got to be a part of her recent laundry room renovation with our new Bradstreet II Fireclay Farmhouse Sink All-In-One Kit. Let’s see how amazing this one turned out below!
I am so happy you stopped by to say hello, and am excited to be sharing with you the before and after of our laundry room makeover! If you follow along on Instagram, then you know this has been a lengthy process. I wouldn’t hesitate to say this renovation has been, by far, the most challenging DIY project to date. However, we could not be more pleased with the results. Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations – Anonymous.
DIY projects are the most rewarding to me. And the end results are well worth the time, energy, and a little or maybe a lot of stress that go into creating something of your own. I am happy to say we all made it through this project with just barely enough clean clothes during the time our laundry utilities were out of commission. phew
This room was a complete demo. To help accomplish the look I envisioned for our laundry room makeover we knocked out walls, tore up the floor, and moved electrical and plumbing. My initial plan was for this to be completed in 1 month, but that quickly extended to 2 months once the demo was finished and it became easier for me to envision what I actually wanted for this space. Tip: when planning any project always double the time you allot for completion. Don’t forget to double the budget too! No, I’m kidding about that last one. I always try to work within the budget and keep things affordable – this is important!
I’ve never shared the before of this space. Let me show you a peek. I’ll warn you, it’s not pretty. The original space consisted of a coat closet and a cramped and not very functional laundry room.
You see?! A terrible, claustrophobic space. When we first purchased this house, I loved the idea of having a separate laundry room. But, as we grew into this space, and began to transform this house into our home I quickly learn what I really wanted. That was functionality. I am determined to make use of every square inch, while creating beautiful and cohesive spaces. A house has four walls, a roof, and provides shelter. A home has character, functionality, and is a reflection of who you are.
I think my least favorite aspect of the original space, aside from its tight corridors, was the utility sink. I knew from the early stages of planning this laundry room makeover that I wanted a farmhouse look and feel. We have been adding farmhouse style to our home, one space at a time; its such a timeless style and adds such beautiful character to the home. The laundry room was no exception! First on the list was a farmhouse sink. I fell in love with the design of this stunning fireclay farmhouse sink from Sinkology. It was certainly an upgrade from the tiny, worn utility sink. Just as with our kitchen remodel, I wanted the sink to be the center of attention. The Bradstreet II Farmhouse Fireclay Sink is just that! Its simple beauty was the heart of this remodel design.
To continue with the farmhouse style, we decided on the Zuri Faucet by Pfister. The tall neck and pull out sprayer make this design timeless. It adds a bit of an industrial feel, which pairs perfectly with the farmhouse kitchen sink.
Several other features worked together to complete the design of our laundry room makeover. My goal in our room-by-room remodel is to assure that each individual space comes together, cohesively as a whole. I never want any space to feel or look like it does not belong. How I achieved that here, was by bringing in elements from the rooms adjacent to this space. These design features include the black walnut butcher block countertops from CraftArt and brick from Old Mill Brick. Both of these elements were included in our kitchen remodel. With the laundry room directly off of the kitchen, it was important for the two spaces to compliment each other. We chose the DIY option when it came to the wood countertop and bench top (I’ll talk about that in detail in a future post). I love the warmth and character the rich wood tones add to this space. CraftArt will happily create ready to install countertops, however, if you have a bit of DIY experience and are trying to keep cost down the Homeowner or Serious DIY options are a great, budget-friendly alternative.
The wood and brick worked so well together in our kitchen and knew I wanted that same look for the laundry room. Brick is such a classic, farmhouse element. I did, however, want something with a bit more wow factor then a running bond brick pattern had to offer. A herringbone brick floor pattern, using thin brick, brought a beautiful and unique feature to this space. It truly was a labor of love but I would recreate this floor a thousand times over.
There’s a bit more scrubbing of the grout haze and sealing to do on the floor (I’ll be sharing the entire process in a later blog post), but I think I’m officially obsessed with brick flooring.
Of course, I cannot leave out this beauty of a washer and dryer pair by GE Appliances! My first matching washer/dryer set as an adult certainly does not disappoint. I’m a bit ashamed to say it took me 35 years to have an actual matching set that didn’t come from the scratch and dent section. GE’s Diamond Gray frontload washer and dryer were well worth the wait and have been my best friends since the laundry room remodel has wrapped up. If you’re looking for me, I’ll be right here doing the never-ending loads of laundry.
Now lets talking lighting! This pendent light from Steel Lighting Co. completed the farmhouse look we wanted to achieve. We are proud supporters of made in America items. I can’t yet say this space is 100% complete, but I can say I am a thousand times happier with the look, feel, and functionality this laundry room makeover has given us. A few finishing touches have yet to be done. As time allows, I will be dehazing and sealing the floor, adding trim around the perimeter of the room and base of the bench, and eventually building and installing doors for the bottom bench cubbies. Clutter makes me anxious, so it is important for me to have a way to conceal the tons of tiny shoes my children will be shoving into those little cubbies.
